So how can a thin lightweight shiny panel actually save you so much money?

90% of the heat that radiates onto the panel’s metallised surface is reflected back into the room. Additionally , the insulating air pockets behind the panels further reduce heat losses normally caused by conduction to the exterior wall. The heating system thus requires less energy as the water returned to the boiler is hotter.

Reduced heat loss due to the Novitherm panels typically allows the hot water heating system’s supply temperature to be reduced by approx. 5 oC while maintaining the same comfort level.

WithoutNovitherm the radiator must first heat the wall behind – this heat seeps through the wall and out of the building
With Novitherm the wall behind the radiator is insulated and remains cool
Without Novitherm the hot air naturally rising behind the radiator is caused to spin up the wall and stratify at the ceiling
With Novitherm the panel profile prevents this creating a series of vortices, rising at a higher speed and spinning out into the room.
Convection within a typical room

Note the increased convection of warm air at lower levels when panels installed.
